Yeah, this was the one. Last Polaroid of that day, that first shoot with Caitlin, really happy with the way it turned out, love that reflected light coming in from the side, the way Polaroid overexposes.
I don’t take nearly as many Polaroids, these days. It’s now a special occasion camera. I’ll take a few shots of a new model, but usually, after that, it stays in the bag. The walls are full, I don’t need to take more Polaroids, much as I love them.
You see, several times during the past year I’ve thought I was done with Polaroid. First they said they weren’t making any more of the stuff. Then my camera broke. Then I ran out of money. Each time, I made my peace with no longer using the film.
But each time something came up to get that camera back into my hands. Made more money, someone offered to fix the camera, someone gifted me several packs, discovered that despite the lack of continued production, film was still readily available.
So at this point, it’s a treat. Something to use for a shot or two during a shoot. Something to use when it really feel right.
