The Hurt Locker
Saw this a few hours ago, still feel amped by it. Incredibly strong film, from start to finish.
Begins with stuff blowing up, ends with stuff blowing up, and in between you’re on the edge of your seat almost every second, waiting for someone to get hit by shrapnel, or by a sniper’s bullet, or blown up, or shot by an insurgent coming out of a hallway.
The film rachets up the viewer’s tension until it’s almost unbearable, found myself giggling nervously several times, laughter the only possible way my body could think to release some of the anxiety I was feeling, watching the characters trying to disarm insurgent explosives.
Movie that had me feeling, movie that had me focused on the screen, on what was happening, on what the characters were thinking, were gonna do.
Excellent, that a movie can do that. That something can do that.
