Just downloaded a free Purple Rain tribute album from Spin.com, and really, all I could think while listening to the various tracks (some of which are solid, some of which are shameful) is that not a single track did anything at all to make me think anything other than “boy, I should be listening to the original right now.”
Which doesn’t say much for the tribute album.
But does say a lot about Purple Rain. Perfect album. I dare you to disagree. ?
