Comic book covers I have loved: The Invisibles, Vol. 1, #17 (by Sean Phillips)
I read things that look like this. What do you read? Do you read? Do you read anything that looks half as cool as this?
And this is just the cover. Inside, there’s psychic assassins being tortured and given truth serums and having their minds hacked, their very personalities peeled back to gain crucial information.
There’s also some transvestite shamans, a messiah or two, Old Gods and kung fu.
These are the things that have filled my brain, to the point where I can’t remember what I did last week. Or anything about grade school. Or exactly why I broke up with my second girlfriend.
Because there are ninjas and mutants and robots with human brains and magic mirrors and talking monkeys and voodoo death gods and hermaphrodites and negative energy beings and women with multiple personalities, all squeezed in, leaving room for little else.
And I am so okay with that.
