Leica Freedom Train
So I guess this is what I do now in the slow moments, read interesting articles on the internet, share ‘em here.
While researching Leica cameras, trying to suss out why folks go so apeshit, I stumbled on a one line factoid in the wikipedia article:
During the 1930s and 1940s, Ernst Leitz II and his daughter Dr. Elsie Kuehn-Leitz, both Protestant Christians, arranged for hundreds of Jewish employees and their families to get out of Germany, thus escaping the Holocaust.”
What the deuce? Turns out the owner of Leica at the time helped his Jewish employees, their families and even some of their friends by sending them overseas to “work” in the Leica offices.
Fresh. Might have to buy one, just because they helped my people.
