421am.  Morning routine.  Wake up. Marvel that I am up so early.  Brush teeth.  Open laptop. Begin looking at photos.  Turn on NPR.

I know today’s going to be a good day, because Henry Kissinger’s voice is coming from Morning Edition.

My eyes clear and focus, and I go through all of my Flickr contacts who’ve posted new shots during the night.

I’m always afraid one day that haze over my eyes won’t clear, that this morning will be the morning I finally need glasses, which’ll be the first sign of my inevitable visual decline, starting my own personal doomsday clock.

Today, the haze cleared.  One more day of taking pictures.

AND SO, for all of you that fear, not the reaper, but the gradual destruction that comes along with aging, then this shot of Amanda is for you.
