Leroy Sievers : NPR
Listening to NPR this morning, I heard the latest in a continual series by Mr. Sievers, chronicling his fight with cancer.  Today’s segment, 2 years since he was diagnosed, was particularly affecting, as he notes that the cancer has spread to several critical parts of the body, and that he’s in the process of “getting his affairs in order.”
Which, in addition to being seriously heavy, made me think about another aspect of the internet.  Mr. Siever has a companion blog to go along with the radio segments, and at this point it’s basically missives from a man living out his last days.  And living them out, partially, online, giving us all a window into death and dying, something most people shy away from.
I’d call it brave, but I think it’s more important to call it necessary, that his opening himself up to the internet like this helps in a multitude of ways.
