Damn fine shot from Laura Taylor. Love the relaxed symmetry of it, the slightly “below the model” perspective, the killer pose.
I’ve been hanging out with Laura the last few weeks, as having had an assistant has made me really appreciate having a partner in crime during photo shoots.
But Laura’s no assistant, and looking back, my assistant wasn’t really an assistant, but someone I liked having around to shoot with, someone whose photography I was into and respected, and was down to share models and adventures.
There’s definitely a different vibe when you roll into a shoot as a team, there’s an ease, not as much pressure to keep the conversation going, or to keep the model entertained. If I’ve got to focus on reloading, or visualizing a shot, Laura’s there, taking her own pictures, talking the model up.
I suppose I like options. Being able to shoot alone. Or with my crew. Or just with one other person. Hell, other people, it’s kind of why I do this whole thing, yeah?
