Here, in this shot of Lucy & Laura, is one of the differences between my photo shoots and professionals’. When a model shows up to a pro shoot, they go right to work.
I hang out on a couch and chat my models up, reluctantly go to my car to, on request, show them my book. I take pictures of people looking at my book, rather than just have them pose right out the gate.
Because for me, a large part of photography is the process. And an important part of the process is interacting with the model, getting to know them.
Oh, and of course, given a chance to show off my goods, I’ll totally jump at that, too. With the requisite amount of humility, naturally.
