Proof that TV has rotted my brain: I can never hear this song without thinking of the Quantum Leap finale.
See, this was the song that played during the very emotional final moment of the show, where we find out that Sam Beckett, who has been leaping back & forth through time to put right that which once went wrong, will keep on leaping, and that he never returned home.
Man, I’m getting choked up just thinking about it.
He’s got a chance to visit home, too, but instead goes and fixes his best friend’s marriage, which he’d kind of ruined in an earlier episode.
Dude has a chance to visit his own people before the leaps get harder, but no, he just keeps on righting wrongs. Because it’s the thing to do.
Getting choked up again.
So, yeah, Georgia on My Mind will always = Quantum Leap to me.
Now where’s my nerd badge, that I may wear it with pride.
